Four people, including two Moroccans, aged 27 to 57, are accused of having transported a large quantity of Moroccan hashish to Albuñol, on the coast of Granada. They face seven and a half years in prison for drug trafficking and smuggling.

In addition to the custodial sentences, the defendants will have to pay fines of 13,020,000 euros. They are being prosecuted as alleged perpetrators of drug trafficking and smuggling offenses. Three of them were arrested by the Civil Guard as they unloaded 77 packages containing 2,232 kilos of hashish on the coast of Granada, reports La Voz de Cadiz.

The facts date back to July 6, 2021, when Civil Guards observed people near the beaches of La Rábita and El Pozuelo, “unloading barrels of fuel from a van to a boat that entered the beach with a large number of hashish balls”. At the sight of the officers, they fled before being arrested.

Among the suspects, there are two Moroccans, 41 and 27 years old, and a 32-year-old Algerian. Their boat was destroyed on judicial authorization. In all, 28 drums of gasoline and 77 bales containing 2,232 kilos of hashish were seized. Their value is estimated at 4,380,741 euros. The trial of the defendants will begin on September 14 in the Provincial Court of Granada.
