Judo: Morocco Finishes 3rd at the Dakar International Open

The Atlas Lions of judo won two gold medals and as many bronzes, this Sunday, during the 2 nd and final day of the Dakar International Open. 

Morocco thus ends the competition in 3 rd place in the general classification (4 gold, 4 bronzes), behind Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. Kenya and Cameroon respectively in 4th and 5th position.

Morocco won, this Sunday, November 14, two bronze medals during the 2nd day of the International Judo Open organized, on November 13 and 14, in Dakar (Senegal). Both medals were won by Sofia Belattar who beat Senegalese Diatta Yacine in the – 70 kg category, and Hamza Al-Abdlaoui who beat Congolese O. Gambi (-90 kg). The Atlas Lions in judo had already won two gold and two bronze medals on Saturday.

The two gold medals were won by Hassan Doukkali (-73kg) who dominated the Senegalese Saliou Ndiaye and by Aziza Chakir (-48kg), who dispatched the Ivorian Diarrassouba Maïmouna. On the other hand, Lamiae Eddinari (-57kg) and Zakaria Lamaalem (-60kg) consoled themselves with the bronze, by winning respectively in front of the Kenyan Mailu Tabitha and the Senegalese Arona Keïta.

At the end of the day, Senegal (4 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze) won the tournament, ahead of Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco. Kenya and Cameroon respectively come in 4th and 5th position. As a reminder, 17 countries, including England and Ireland, took part in the Dakar International Judo Open, which took place in the Marius Ndiaye stadium.
