Bourita Strengthens Morocco-Japan Economic Relations in Tokyo

Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, met Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations and economics between Morocco and Japan.

The fruitful discussions focused on economic development, industrial cooperation, and trade, with particular attention to the opening of the Japanese market to Moroccan clementines and mandarins.

Mr. Bourita presented structuring projects such as the port of Dakhla Atlantique, which aims to improve connectivity with sub-Saharan countries. Mr. Saito welcomed Moroccan economic reforms under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, positioning Morocco at the forefront in several industrial sectors in Africa.

The Japanese minister announced the appointment of an economic representative to the Japanese Embassy in Rabat to strengthen commercial relations and promote the establishment of Japanese companies in Morocco. Discussions also explored investment opportunities in green hydrogen, green ammonia, and seawater desalination.

The two ministers welcomed this meeting, opening new prospects for cooperation between Morocco and Japan.
