Algeria Is Preparing to Embark On the “Drone Industry”

Not long ago, Algeria was rocked by an unprecedented tragedy, the forest fires. A series of violent and deadly fires devastated several wilayas in the country, including Kabylia. These fires have caused deaths, burns, and colossal losses.

These fires which will be forever etched in our memories given the extent of the damage they caused also opened our eyes to a bitter reality, Algeria does not have the necessary means to face this kind of disaster. Considering that this phenomenon recurs every year.

The Algerian authorities have therefore become aware of this observation and are trying to remedy it and equip themselves in order to better fight against these devastating incidents, this was will demonstrated by the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities, and of Regional Planning, Kamel Beldjoud.

The drone industry to fight fires

Indeed, the minister indicated that Algeria is considering the industrialization of drones to fight against forest fires. These drones aim to monitor and detect forest fires.

The General Directorate of Forests (DGF) has initiated a project to produce a prototype drone, in collaboration with the Industrial Technologies Research Center (CRTI) funded by the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT). The construction phase has started, and it will be tested in the first half of 2022.

In the same wake, and in order to translate the instructions of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Beldjoud affirms that the government has started to organize the agreements for the acquisition of the canadairs.
