The formalization of the organization of the 2030 World Cup should take place at the end of the year, once the technical criteria have been validated, but FIFA should endorse the only application submitted, a joint application from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

Casablanca should have, by 2030, the largest stadium in the world, with a capacity of 115,000 seats. A venue that will host World Cup matches.

The photo of the project for this new stadium was produced by the  Spanish architectural firm Cruz y Ortiz.  But it was ultimately the consortium led by architects Oualalou + Choi and Populous, which was awarded the contract to design and build the Grand Stade de Casablanca.

This pharaonic project will be built 38 km from Casablanca, in the sand of El Mansour, a small coastal town of 20,000 inhabitants. The enclosure will have to accommodate 115,000 people on a site covering an area of 100 hectares. Earthworks should take place in the coming weeks.

“The embodiment of the great tradition of Moroccan hospitality”

Tarik Oualalou, the chief architect of the project, insists on the Moroccan roots of the new project: “ The Grand Stade de Casablanca is deeply anchored in Moroccan culture, with its traditions and contemporary expressions. It is anchored in ancient and primordial figures: the Moussem, the tent, and the garden, as well as in the topography and landscapes of Morocco. It is a generous space, open to the world and respectful of the nature it protects. The Grand Stade de Casablanca is the incarnation of the great tradition of Moroccan hospitality.
