“Worrying” Situation of Senegalese Migrants in Nador (Morocco): Adha Warns and Calls for Responsibility from the New Authorities

In a press release, Action for Human Rights and Friendship (ADHA) warns of the worrying situation of six of our compatriots, including a minor child, currently in distress in Nador, Morocco. With this critical situation, ADHA calls for responsibility and solidarity from the new Senegalese authorities.

Indeed, according to the human rights organization, “these migrants, including Al Hassane BA, who had undertaken to reach the Spanish archipelago by taking makeshift boats, contacted Action for Human Rights and Friendship. It should be recalled that they are part of around fifty migrants blocked in Nador.”

“Currently, these individuals find themselves in an extremely precarious situation, deprived of financial means and food supplies, and require immediate humanitarian assistance. They express the desire to reach Casablanca to resume their professional activity or, for some, to return to Senegal,” Adama Mbengue et Cie indicated in the note. With this critical situation, ADHA calls for the responsibility and solidarity of the new Senegalese authorities. Similarly, “ADHA insists on increasing the logistical and financial resources allocated to our embassies and consulates, so that they can fully fulfill their role of protection and assistance to compatriots in difficulty abroad.” The NGO “also reminds these diplomats to get out of their comfort zone and their air-conditioned offices to be more present on the ground.” Ultimately, ADHA maintains that “Concrete and diligent measures must be implemented to provide the necessary assistance to these migrants and prevent the occurrence of such situations in the future.”
