Many people think that Algeria is not a safe country. It must be admitted, however, that previously security in Algeria was an obstacle to the development of the tourist sector. This past, let’s say quite disturbing, is anchored in the vision of foreigners of the wilayas of Algeria.
Consequently, although these foreigners wish to visit Algeria, the insecurity which they believe still reigns in certain regions seems to repel them. Indeed, some visitors are vigilant and act with suspicion since, according to them, the risks of terrorist acts and kidnapping are high in some wilayas.
To this end, some governments, such as Canada, draw up a list of countries and/or cities that they advise their nationals not to visit. Indeed, Canada has listed the Algerian regions that it considers to present โrisks of civil unrest and terrorismโ.

For security reasons, the State of Canada strongly recommends that its citizens not travel to certain cities in Algeria . Although the security situation seems to be moving in the right direction on the Algerian side, the Canadian authorities are still wary of potential acts of terrorism, banditry and kidnappings.
