United States Embassy in Algeria congratulates four Algerian scientists

The United States Embassy in Algeria congratulated four Algerian scholars ranked in the 2% of the best scholars in the world. The American diplomatic representation sent this message of congratulations, this Wednesday, May 19, on its Facebook page.

โ€œOur congratulations to the 4 members of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology that the prestigious Stanford University in California has designated among the 2% of the best scientists in the worldโ€, wrote the Embassy of the United States. She adds that โ€œthis classification has also affected dozens of Algerian researchers whose research work has been cited by other scientists in academic publicationsโ€.

The American Embassy cites in its publication the four researchers concerned by the distinction. They are Oualid Hamdaoui, professor at the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at Badji Mokhtar University in Annaba, Houria Triki, professor at the physics department at Badji Mokhtar University in Annaba, Azzedine Bousseksou, a physicist and chemist at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), in Toulouse, France and Dr Adel Belouchrani, from Algiers, researcher in electrical engineering at the national technical school.

American researchers still at the top of the ranking

It should be noted that researchers in the United States continue to dominate the ranking established by this university. This list identifies scientists and social scientists who have produced multiple papers ranking in the top 2%, in terms of citation in their field and year of publication, demonstrating significant research influence among their counterparts.

The methodology that determines the โ€œwho is whoโ€ among influential researchers is based on data and analyzes carried out by bibliometric experts. This is Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company. The latter organizes research information from around the world to enable academia, businesses, publishers and governments to accelerate research. The company is backed by Web of Science – the world’s largest non-publisher benchmark, and world’s largest research intelligence platform.
