ORAN- A twinning program between Algerian and international hotels has been established under a contract with the World Tourism Organization (UNTWO), announced Thursday in Oran the minister of National Planning, Tourism and Craft Industry Abdelwahab Nouri.
โWe agreed with the UNWTO on the establishment of a twinning program between various Algerian hotels and their counterparts in several regions of the world,โ Nouri told the press at the opening o f the 8th International Tourism and Travel Fair โSIAHA 2017,โ recalling the agreement has been sealed at an international seminar held last week in Algiers, which brought together representatives of Maghreb and Western African countries under the aegis of the UNWTO.
โThis meeting was fruitful and we have received full support from the UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Errifai,โ affirmed Nouri.
The minister emphasized on the promotion of national tourism, stressing his department seeks to promote the Algeria destination worldwide. Algeria is a continent that conceals major tourist assets, he stressed.
In order to receive the tourism sector in Algeria as part of stateโs efforts to diversify the national economy, 1,600 hotel projects totalling more than 200,000 beds have been approved at the ministry including 854 projects with a 70,000 beds capacity that are being implemented. Most of them will be exploited soon, announced the minister.
Moreover, 65 public hotels, most of which were built in the 70s, benefit from a modernization program, said the minister who called on public operators to double efforts to implement the program as soon as possible.
As regards Oran, the minister laid the first stone of a 5 star hotel in Es Senia. The project is part of a partnership between an Algerian investor and an Emirati company. The hotel has a capacity of 202 beds and is distinguished by its Arab-Muslim architecture.
