The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax (CCIS), Tunisia, has announced its involvement in the management of the Ben Guerdane free zone, a strategic economic initiative launched by the Tunisian government in early 2024. The CCIS will facilitate trade transactions between Tunisian businesses and their counterparts in Libya and other African nations.
At a recent forum organized by the CCIS on “Financing Mechanisms for Exports to Libya,” representatives from over 30 Tunisian companies participated. The event provided an opportunity to discuss export prospects, available financing options, and address the challenges associated with trading with Libya and other African countries.
Hichem Elloumi, Director of the CCIS, emphasized the importance of fostering strong economic ties with Libya and other African nations. He highlighted the long-standing relationships between the CCIS and chambers in the region, driven by geographic proximity and global economic trends.
The forum focused on two key topics: the current state of opening credits in Libya and the financial settlement of exports. By addressing these challenges, the CCIS aims to support Tunisian businesses in expanding their market reach and maximizing their export potential.
