The floating units under the maritime districts of the National Guard in the governorates of Sfax and Monastir succeeded, during the last night, in thwarting three operations of illegal crossing of the maritime borders and rescuing 93 migrants.
This is what emerges from a press release published by the General Directorate of the National Guard relayed by the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP/official).
Floating units under the maritime district of the National Guard in Sfax foiled a clandestine migration operation and rescued 42 sub-Saharan migrants after their boat sank, while those in Monastir foiled two other operations and rescued 51 migrants of sub-Saharan nationalities.
In addition, a National Guard patrol in Sfax succeeded in arresting a person from the region in his car trying to help two people from sub-Saharan Africa to cross the maritime borders illegally. Judicial measures have been taken against him and against the participants in the operations of illegal crossing of the Tunisian maritime borders, according to the spokesman of the National Guard.
