The Criminal Chamber specializing in financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal has handed down a 4-year prison sentence to Slim Chiboub, the businessman and former president of Espรฉrance de Tunis, son-in-law of former President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali.
According to Mosaรฏque FM which reported the information, Friday, July 12, 2024, the 4 years in prison were pronounced in two separate cases, 2 years for each of them, with fines of several million dinars.
The first case concerns the oil company Voyager Oil and Gas, in which Chiboub held part of the capital, and in which he was sentenced, at first instance, to 6 years in prison, which was reduced to 2 years on appeal.
The second case concerns the Gammarth Marina in which Chiboub was sentenced, at first instance, to 8 years in prison, before his sentence was commuted on appeal to 2 years.
Slim Chiboub, who is incarcerated in Mornaguia prison, and prosecuted in several cases, is not at the end of his troubles.
