According to the president of the Syndicate of private radio stations, Kamel Robbana.
Private radio stations are facing an unprecedented crisis, due to pressure exerted by the National Office of Television Broadcasting and the Ministry of Finance, which are demanding a rapid settlement of debts.
This is what emerges from a statement granted on Tuesday by the president of the Syndicate of private radio stations, Kamel Robbana, to the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP/official).
“The government must act quickly to find a solution,” he said, proposing a tax amnesty for five years and a recovery of the debts of these radios.
He added that the meeting recently held between representatives of private radio and television stations, called by the Syndicate of Private Television Channels, had called for the need to convene a Ministerial Council dedicated to the media sector.
“The Director-General of the Office National de la Télédiffusion must stop putting pressure on the radio stations”, he said, citing serious threats linked to the closure of private radio stations in the face of the inability to find a solution to save the sector and its employees.
However, he noted that the Syndicate was ready to lead protest movements in case the demands of private radio stations are not met.
Representatives of private radio and television, recently meeting, had denounced the critical situation that these media are going through professionally and financially, proposing solutions to get out of the crisis, we read from the same source.
