Tunisia: President Kais Saied Visits Kuwait

To offer condolences to the family of the Emir, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who died on Saturday.

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied left Tunisia on Sunday morning to travel to Kuwait, to offer his condolences to the family of the deceased, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who died on Saturday.

This is what emerges from a press release made public by the Presidency of the Republic, relayed by the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP/official).

The head of state was greeted on his departure by the head of government, Ahmed Hachani, the first delegate responsible for the management of the affairs of the governorate of Tunis, the secretary general responsible for the management of the municipality of Tunis and the Kuwaiti ambassador to Tunisia, Mansour Khaled Omar, according to the same source.

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad took over the reins of Kuwait’s government on September 29, 2020, succeeding the country’s Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah.

At the end of November, he was admitted to the hospital to receive treatment and undergo medical examinations, following health problems, according to a press release from the Prince’s Cabinet.

On Saturday, the Prince’s Cabinet of Kuwait announced the death of the country’s Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, at the age of 86, following which the government decreed 40 days of mourning as well as the closure of official services for three days.

Kuwait announced the same day the appointment of Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as emir of the country.
