An extraordinary meeting on the implementation of the Arab strategy for volunteering and the plan to consolidate the rights of people with specific needs in times of crisis was organized in Libya, Tripoli. This was within the framework of the work of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, held on September 22 and 23, 2024.
On this occasion, Tunisia and Libya signed in Tripoli, on Sunday, September 22, a memorandum of understanding in the social field.
On the Tunisian side, the memorandum of understanding was initialed by the Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Lahmer; while Wafa Abou Bakr Kilani signed it for Libya.
The content of the memorandum calls for the establishment of a legal framework for cooperation between the two countries in the areas of social services, particularly about the training of social workers and the care of people with special needs during crises.
It also involves helping to: develop joint programs to ensure a dignified life for the Libyan communities in Tunisia and Tunisians in Libya; benefit from successful experiences in social protection programs for vulnerable categories; and strengthen cooperation in the field of studies and research relating to the disabled in specialist centers in both countries.
