Tunisia Inaugurates Its National Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka

On Sunday, Tunisia unveiled its pavilion at the Universal Exhibition “Expo 2025 Osaka,” set to welcome over 30 million visitors from April 13 to October 13, 2025, on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka, Japan’s Kansai region. The expo’s theme is “Designing the Future Society, Imagining Our Life Tomorrow.” Tunisia’s pavilion, themed “Partnership in Innovation, Sciences, and Technologies – PIST,” was inaugurated in the presence of Tunisia’s Ambassador to Tokyo, Ahmed Chafra, the General Commissioner for Tunisia at Expo 2025, CEPEX CEO Mourad Ben Hassine, Pavilion Director Cyrine Kanzari, and project architects Mourad Zoghlami and Mariem Chaieb Berayana.

The Tunisian Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) highlighted Tunisia’s long-standing participation in global expos, from London 1851 to Dubai 2020, noting that each event showcases the richness of its national identity and diverse influences. At Expo 2025, Tunisia reveals a new chapter of its history and aspirations.

Through this participation, Tunisia reaffirms its role as a bridge between cultures, past, and future, aiming to enhance its economic, cultural, and tourism image while positioning itself as a prime destination for international investors and partners. The pavilion, named “Resonance,” blends art and technology to offer a unique sensory experience, inviting visitors on an immersive journey through four distinct spaces.

The journey begins in “Echo,” where holographic Carthaginian masks come alive, weaving ancient stories that blend with water, nature’s wisest element. It continues in “Elan,” a desert-like passage with glowing boxes revealing visual tales emerging from the sand, guiding visitors like stars toward new possibilities. In “Awakening,” modern Tunisia shines vibrantly, intertwining technology and innovation in a tribute to sustainability, solidarity, and creativity. Finally, “Essence,” the pavilion’s heart, features a majestic Hannibal sculpture carved in bronze crystal glass alongside an olive tree mosaic, symbolizing deep roots and nourishing land. At its center, “El Meïda,” a luxurious olive-wood table, embodies Tunisian hospitality, inviting guests to connect.

Key moments include Women’s Day on August 12, celebrating Tunisian women’s role in society and business, and Tunisia’s National Day on August 13, showcasing its culture through tradition and innovation. The Economic Day on August 18 will foster bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Japan and East Asia, paving the way for the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). Tunisia will also join Thematic Weeks, highlighting initiatives like “One Village, One Product” (OVOP) to showcase local economies and thermal tourism (ONSEN) through its stunning natural spas. From September 29 to October 11, a dedicated week will promote Tunisia as a cultural and tourism destination with performances and displays of its rich heritage.
