The World Bank grants 23.745 million dollars to Tunisia, including 20.9 million euros as a loan, and 1.8 million dollars, in the form of a donation.
The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Saïed, and the permanent representative of the World Bank in Tunis, Alexandre Arrabbio, signed this financing agreement yesterday afternoon, Monday June 13, 2022.
This additional funding is part of the program to support Tunisia’s efforts in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, through the improvement of the capacities and means of the national health system, reports the Ministry of Health. in a press release.
Samir Saïed emphasized “the solidity of financial and technical cooperation between Tunisia and the World Bank, which is among its main economic and social partners”.
The Minister of Health, Ali Mrabet, indicated, for his part, that “Tunisia had managed to achieve great successes in the face of Covid-19, and to overcome the difficulties, thanks to the efforts of all the stakeholders at the level national level, as well as the support of brotherly and friendly countries, and financial partners, in particular the World Bank”.
He expressed his determination “to continue this fruitful cooperation so that it affects other areas of the health system, which is among the national priorities in the short and medium terms”.
Alexandre Arrabbio, in turn, stressed that “the World Bank has interacted, positively, with Tunisia’s socio-economic needs”, to deal with the health crisis, affirming the financial institution’s provisions to provide the necessary support in order to support the socio-economic development of the country.
