With the death of Taoufik Chaibi, Tunisia loses one of its captains of industry who have largely contributed to the development of the private sector over the past fifty years.
The founder of the Utic group (Ulysse Trading and Industrial Companies), who died on Tuesday July 4, 2022, created and masterfully managed a very diversified group operating in the sectors of distribution, electromechanical industry, cosmetics, packaging, tourism and services and finance.
Taoufik Chaibi is part of the second generation of captains of industry who began their careers in the 1970s, under the impetus of the economic liberalization movement initiated by former Prime Minister Hedi Nouira.
Since then, he has continued to create companies that have played a major role in the economic and social development of the country.
The group that he created and developed with great selflessness and dedication is now made up of 24 companies and employs around 3,000 people. It is headed by his son Nabil Chaïbi, assisted by his brother Khelil Chaibi, president of the Tunisian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CTFCI).
