Tunisia: 12.4% drop in the trade deficit

The trade deficit decreased during the first quarter of 2021, by 12.4%, to stand at -3069.335 million dinars (MD) against -3505.654 MD, during the same period of the year 2020, according to data released Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The coverage rate, for its part, gained 3.4 points compared to the same period of the year 2020 to stand at 78.4% during the first quarter of 2021, against 75% during the same period of the year 2020. 2020.

Tunisia’s trade with the outside world at current prices, during the first quarter of the year 2021, shows an increase in exports of 6.2% to reach 11,161.9 MD against 10,514.9 MD, during the same period 2020.

Similarly, imports recorded, at the end of March 2021, an increase of 1.5% against a decrease of (-11.4%) during the first quarter of the year 2020.

In value, imports reached 14,231.2 MD against 14,020.6 MD, during the same period of the year 2020.
