The World Bank forecasts a growth of 2.2% for Tunisia in 2025 and 2.3% in 2026.

The World Bank predicts a growth of 2.2% for Tunisia in 2025, a slight increase from 1.2% in 2024. According to a report published on Friday titled “Growth in the Middle East and North Africa Region,” this rate is expected to rise further in 2026 to reach 2.3%.

The report explains that prolonged drought conditions and weak domestic demand have hindered economic recovery in 2024, surpassing initial expectations. However, the outlook for 2025 remains optimistic, supported by more favorable external financing prospects.

On their part, the United Nations estimates that Tunisia’s growth will reach 1.5% in 2025, then 1.9% in 2026. Inflation is expected to decrease, settling at 6.9% in 2025 and 6.6% in 2026, after peaking at 7.2% in 2024.

In the Middle East and North Africa region, the World Bank has revised its growth forecasts to 3.4% for 2025, down from 3.8% last October. It anticipates growth to increase to 4.1% for 2026.

The World Bank’s report highlights that emerging economies, accounting for 60% of global growth, are expected to end the first quarter of the 21st century with the lowest long-term growth forecasts since 2000. Regarding the global economy, a moderate growth of 2.7% is expected for 2025 and 2026, in a context of gradually slowing inflation and interest rates.

The forecasts for 2025 have been revised downwards due to the extension of some voluntary oil production cuts in key producing countries. The World Bank also mentions significant uncertainty regarding the future prospects of the region due to armed conflicts and persistent tensions in several countries.

Finally, in the 2025 budget law, the Tunisian government anticipates GDP growth of 3.2% for 2025, based on expected outcomes for 2024, taking into account budget execution up to the end of last August.
