The USA Is Preparing to Launch a “Big” Project in Algeria

The Algerian-American relations are accentuated and several measures are taken by the persons in charge in order to tie cultural and scientism bonds. US Under-Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke about some measures that will be put in place soon.

The representative arrived in Algeria on Wednesday, March 09 and a meeting was held yesterday between the American official and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra, the latter took the floor for a press conference in order to communicate more details.

She referred to a collaborative science project between the two countries, which is a research center launched by the State Department of the University of Notre Dame in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education.

This center will provide the necessary facilities for the scientific branch in order to address very important sectors of activity which are: climate change and renewable energies, pharmaceutical sciences, health , agriculture, applied mathematics and the fields of artificial intelligence but will also provide access to English lessons to nearly 120 members of the government.

Diplomacy to underline the importance of this project for the relationship of the two countries, but also the investment and the efforts that will be made to achieve a conclusive result. This will be a significant opportunity for Algeria that will allow it to attract partners but also to advance the scientific research sector in Algeria.

Algeria and the United States in search of stability

On Wednesday, March 9, the United States Ambassador to Algeria, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Aubin, spoke about stability in North Africa and the Sahel.

First, the representative wished to thank the President of the Algerian meeting Abdelmadjid Tebboune for having received her and for having accepted her credentials. Then, she spoke about the cooperation of the two countries in terms of security in order to fight against terrorism, a subject of interest for the two countries.

She also spoke of the importance of “deepening the ties between our two peoples” culturally. The ambassador recalled the contribution of the United States which will be made in order to improve the learning of the English language given globalization and its increasingly sought-after use, she also revealed the organization of events in this context. Indeed, the Embassy and the Algerian Ministry of Culture are inviting 24 musicians from Algeria, the United States and adjacent countries to a musical residency and festival called “One Beat Sahara”.

Elizabeth Moore Aubin highlighted the close ties between the two countries, recalling the peace treaty signed in 1795 and Secretary of State Blinken’s stewardship of history, culture, people, and geographic beauty of the Algerian territory she had already visited.
