Morocco ranks first in African tourism rankings. Each year, the kingdom attracts many vacationers from Europe and beyond.
With 16 million people, an increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2023, Morocco topped the African tourism rankings in 2024, according to Express.co.uk. Morocco earns this position thanks to its urban centers, spectacular seaside resorts on some of Africa’s most beautiful coastal areas, its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty hard to find elsewhere in the world, but also due to its rich and diverse heritage shaped by centuries of Moorish, Arab, and Berber influences. Not to forget the winding alleys of ancient medinas, ornate palaces and mosques, as well as bustling souks filled with vibrant textiles, spices, and handcrafted goods.
“For many, it’s the ideal destination for those seeking adventure, culture, and relaxation all in one place,” the publication notes. Travelers have the opportunity to explore the golden sands of the Sahara Desert, trek through the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, or wander through lush valleys and oasis towns. They can also go for a camel ride in the desert, take a scenic hike in the mountains, or enjoy a peaceful beach stay in cities like Essaouira. Fes showcases its deep cultural roots while Casablanca offers a taste of modern Moroccan life. Marrakech remains one of the kingdom’s main attractions.
The best times to visit Morocco are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Temperatures are ideal for exploring the kingdom during these two seasons. Summer temperatures usually exceed 40ยฐC.
