The International Network of Women Lawyers (RiFav) has decided to confer honorary membership on detained Tunisian lawyer Sonia Dahmani.
This decision was taken by unanimous vote on October 9, 2024 by members of the International Network of Women Lawyers in support of Sonia Dahmani, who has been in detention since last May and who was sentenced to 8 months in prison for defamation on the basis of Decree 54, following media statements.
Sonia Dahmani, a lawyer and columnist, is also being prosecuted in other similar cases and appeared today before the Tunis court, which issued a warrant for her arrest and decided to postpone the hearing until October 17.
