Spread of Monkeypox in Turkey?

The Center for Combating Misleading Information, under the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidency, commented on the information that 4 people are in quarantine in the capital, Ankara, suspected of being infected with monkeypox.

In response to reports published in the media and spread on social media in Turkey, the center issued a statement denying what had been circulated.

โ€œThere are no quarantined patients suspected of being infected with monkeypox (Mpox) in any health facility in Ankara,โ€ the statement said.

He added: โ€œBased on the data and information we have, we can say that this disease has not yet spread, despite the rumors circulating.โ€

He stressed that โ€œthe Turkish Ministry of Health has, for its part, taken the necessary precautions,โ€ emphasizing that โ€œwe are closely monitoring the situation and sharing our suggestions with people regarding the precautions they should follow.โ€

He added: โ€œWe will continue to transparently share all the information we obtain with people here in Turkey.โ€
