Spain Hands Over Terrorist Implicated in Madrid Attacks to Morocco

The Spanish authorities handed over to Morocco the man named Rachid Aglif, sentenced following the attacks of March 11, 2004, in Madrid, after having served an 18-year prison sentence.

Rachid Aglif, alias “the rabbit” was taken on board a private plane to Mohammed V airport in Casablanca and handed over to the Moroccan authorities, confirms the Spanish agency EFE.

Rachid Aglif was arrested on April 6, 2004, in Spain after being “convicted of having participated in meetings with the minor José Emilio Suárez Trashorras to obtain explosives”, indicates the same source.

The National Court, the highest court in the country, sentenced him in October 2007 to 18 years in prison, which he served in Alcalá Meco prison.

In 2017, Spain handed over to the Moroccan authorities two other people involved in the Madrid attacks, which left 193 dead and 1,800 injured. Two other Moroccans received the heaviest sentences and were convicted for the murder of 191 people. They were sentenced to 42,000 years in prison.
