Sonatrach Delivers the First LNG Cargo to the New Piombino Terminal in Italy

The Sonatrach group announced on Tuesday the delivery to the Italian company Eni of the first commercial cargo of LNG (liquefied natural gas) at the new floating regasification terminal of Piombino in Italy.

“As part of the strengthening of its gas exports, Sonatrach delivered to Eni on July 7, 2023 an LNG cargo of 90 million cubic meters of gas to the new floating regasification terminal of Piombino in Italy. This cargo, loaded at the GL3Z-Bethioua liquefaction complex in Algeria, was delivered by an LNG carrier owned by the Hyproc subsidiary,” the group said in a press release published on its website.

“This delivery is considered to be the first commercial cargo from this terminal after the end of the test phase, which marks the effective start of commercial operation,” explains the same source.
