Algeria Italy: Tomorrow, Sunday, the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, will be in Algiers, for an important visit expected by several countries.
the Turkish agency “Anatolia” revealed that Meloni’s visit comes as a dedication to the path traveled by former Prime Minister Mario Draghi with Algeria, represented in the bet on Algerian gas as an alternative to Russian gas.
Anatolia said the visit, which is the first of its kind since the far-right came to power, would dispel doubts about whether or not the strategic partnership between Algiers and Rome will continue after the end of the regime of the Italian left and the arrival of the far right leadership.
It is expected that this visit will be a decisive step for the future of relations between the two countries, and will define the parameters of the partnership which will not be based solely on gas but will include renewable energies, the automotive industry, the military cooperation, agriculture, construction, and public works.
It is expected that Georgia Meloni will meet the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to discuss several issues, such as ensuring the increase in Algerian gas flows.
The car manufacturing file will also be part of the important discussion files between the two parties.
It should be noted that the period of the presidency of the Italian government of Mario Draghi saw an important rapprochement between Algeria and Italy, which resulted in the signing of a large number of agreements, in particular those related to natural gas.
With the arrival of Georgia Meloni at the head of the Italian government, the Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Taiani affirmed that Rome is committed to strengthening the bilateral partnership with Algeria, in particular with regard to the sector of energy.
