ALGIERS- A seminar has been held at the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) on the Algerian diplomacy under the theme: “From self-determination diplomacy to peace-exporting diplomacy.”
The seminar was attended by Minister of Mujahideen (Liberation War veterans) Tayeb Zitouni, mujahideen and officers of the People’s National Army and National Police.
In his opening address, Dr Youcef Hamitouche, teacher at Algiers III University, underlined the role of Algerian diplomacy in the “internalization of the Algerian cause” with a view to getting support to the National Liberation War from Arab peoples and across the world.
Hamitouche also stressed the role of the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA) in September 1958 in the strengthening of Algerian diplomacy by boosting the “revolutionary diplomacy” during the Liberation War until the independence.
The Diplomacy Day, observed every year on 8 October, which corresponds to the date on which the national flag was hoisted at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
