The President of the National Assembly (Parliament) of South Korea, Kim Jin-Pyo affirmed, Sunday, that Algeria was a strategic partner for his country, stressing that the established bilateral cooperation had been expanded to encompass different areas.
In a declaration following a hearing granted to him by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mr. Kim Jin-Pyo expressed his joy at being in Algeria which, he affirmed, is “our strategic partner in the African continent ”.
“This visit is of great importance, being the first official visit that a President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea has made to Algeria for 13 years,” he maintained, stressing having exchanged with the President of the Republic “views on issues of common interest, including the strengthening of bilateral relations on an international scale.”
Recalling that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Algeria and South Korea dates back to 1990, the Korean official affirmed that the two countries had since strengthened “their friendly relations in different areas, proof of which is the enlargement of bilateral cooperation to now encompass international issues, through their missions as non-permanent members within the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) since January.
Regarding commercial cooperation, Mr. Kim Jin-Pyo said that Algeria was “Korea’s third largest trading partner in Africa”, especially since the volume of this cooperation has reached its highest levels. levels”.
On this occasion, the Korean official returned to “the remarkable results achieved by Algeria in the field of construction”, highlighting the importance of the Algerian-Korean partnership, particularly in terms of the development of the manufacturing industry.
He also indicated that he had invited President Tebboune to take part in the Korea-Africa Summit scheduled, for the first time, in South Korea in June 2024.
Mr. Kim Jin-Pyo also expressed his thanks and gratitude to President Tebboune for “the successful visit” he is making to Algeria.
