ALGIERS โ The preservation of security and stability represents the “first priority” for the walis, Minister of the Interior and Local Assemblies Noureddine Bedoui said Saturday in Algiers.
The minister called on them to work for the consolidation of the values of the national reconciliation.
Bedoui has presided over the installation of the new walis concerned by the reshuffle movement recently conducted by President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who “follows walisโ work on a daily basis.”
The Algerian people “have always shown their attachment to security, stability and sovereignty,” said Bedoui who added that this “allowed the success of the process of peace and national reconciliation, initiated by President Bouteflika and adopted by the people, and encouraged rebuilding and development efforts, enabling Algeria to regain its rightful place among the fora of nations.”
Stressing the imperative of preserving the gains of national reconciliation policy, notably security and stability, Bedoui urged the walis to “cooperate and coordinate with the security services to bar the way to all those who want to put it in danger.”
He called on the walis to respond professionally to attempts to undermine the country and sow discord (fitna).
Moreover, the minister said that the recent reshuffle of walis is part of a “particular situation” marked by the “revision of the constitution initiated by the president of the Republic, which hoisted the Algerian constitutional system to the level of the systems that respect the most the individual and collective liberties.”
Emphasizing the importance of giving chances to young people to participate in local development, Bedoui said the communes and prefectures “should promote local productive investments away from bureaucracy.”
The minister also demanded from the walis to achieve the E-governance project a “tangible reality” and encourage technological creativity.
