Portugal Blocks Ryanair Flights to Morocco

The airline Ryanair denounces the blocking of its lines to Morocco by the Portuguese Ministry of Infrastructure and the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC). This situation prevents it from operating the flights of more than 3,000 Portuguese passengers this Sunday, October 31.

The lines connecting Lisbon to Agadir, Fez, and Marrakech were “illegally blocked by the Portuguese Ministry of Infrastructure and by the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC)”, specifies the Irish low cost, which denounces “a flagrant violation of the EU global open skies agreement in force with Morocco”. Ryanair is already working to reimburse tickets to the passengers concerned.

For its part, the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) affirms that “Ryanair did not make the request in accordance with the law and on time, by complying with legal requirements and by issuing all the necessary documents to the analysis of the request, despite the fact that the ANAC has requested them on several occasions. It would be illegal to grant permission in violation of applicable law”.
