Other Agreements Are Planned With Sixteen Textile Companies: Four International Clothing Brands Will Start Production in Algeria Before the End of April

After signing contracts and memorandums of understanding with Tayal Group, Mango, Celio, LC Waikiki and Jennifer will begin production before the end of this month.

This was affirmed by the manager of the National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (Algex), Abdellatif Houari, on the airwaves of the National Radio. This entry into production will mark a new era in the economic sector and especially in the textile industry.

“These agreements are the fruit of three years of uninterrupted work. They are also the direct consequence of the law on import specialization which came into force in 2021 and that relating to effective investment since last year. Since last July, we had started negotiations with the parent companies to launch production lines in Algeria. Today, four new brands are entering the production circuit.

Sixteen other companies are in very advanced negotiations,” reveals Mr. Houari, who is also deputy director of export monitoring and support. Guest of Radio Chaîne 1, he indicated that the entry into production of these major international brands, known for their extensive experience in terms of marketing, design and export, will challenge local producers and impose competition fair and interesting for the development of the textile, clothing and footwear industry.

“Decathlon is the first brand to enter the production field. It has 18 products marketed under the ”Made in Algeria” label. This range will be expanded to more than 80 products before the end of the year, in addition to other products, such as men’s and women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes and bags of different types and colors,” adds Mr. Houari, before announcing that one of these brands plans to export its articles produced in Algeria to Europe. “Today, several international brand stores are seeking to receive a product made in Algeria before the end of 2023.

The added value provided by these global brands is to give significant competitiveness to the textile sector in Algeria. Our attempt as a sector is to increase the rate of integration and to define several criteria for marketing on the national market and to extend this distribution network to export”, he adds. Regarding the issue of the raw material raised by local producers, Mr. Houari wanted to reassure the company Tayal’s ability to meet the needs of these customers. “Tayal Textiles Company is in a perfect position to meet the needs of economic operators active in the field and follow the speed of the orientation of the State policy to go towards export.

It is also very important to extend Tayal’s investments in the country’s wilayas in order to increase production capacities. The goal is to first respond to the needs of the national market and then to export”, he underlines, before returning to the National Fair for Textile Products, Clothing and Footwear, which continues until to April 19. He recalls that the objective through this trade fair is sales, especially in these last ten days of the holy month with discounts that go up to more than 50% on all products.
