This marks the third such agreement between Algeria and the FAO, focusing on priorities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the year 2023. The framework has been developed through collaborative efforts across multiple ministerial sectors to define its objectives and strategies.
The priorities under this new framework include:
- Boosting Agricultural Production and Productivity: Enhancing the efficiency and output of agricultural activities.
- Developing Agricultural Value Chains: Improving the stages from production to market to increase value addition.
- Sustainability of Natural Resources and Climate Change Adaptation: Ensuring the long-term viability of agricultural resources while adapting to climate changes.
Additionally, the framework addresses:
- Veterinary Health Strategy: Developing strategies to prevent and combat animal diseases, particularly those exacerbated by climate change and transboundary issues.
The missions of the CPF also encompass contributing to national programs and strategies by adopting innovative best practices, integrating international standards, and leveraging both national and regional expertise over the next four years.
This partnership underscores Algeria’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development and environmental stewardship, aiming for a resilient and productive agricultural sector in line with global sustainability goals.
