New Amount for Tourism Allowance in Algeria

During the weekly Council of Ministers meeting, chaired by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Sunday, significant decisions were made regarding allowances for Algerian citizens for tourism and pilgrimage. These measures aim to enhance travel conditions abroad for citizens while addressing their expectations in other areas of strategic interest.

One of the most notable announcements is the increase in the tourism allowance, which has now been set at 750 euros per year for adults. This measure will better meet the needs of Algerians traveling abroad, in a context of steadily rising international travel costs.

For minors, a specific allowance of 300 euros has been decided upon, thus providing tailored financial support for families. This decision reflects a desire to encourage Algerians, including the young, to explore new horizons while benefiting from state financial support.

Another key point from the meeting was the increase in the pilgrimage (Hajj) allowance. Now, each citizen undertaking this spiritual journey will receive 1,000 dollars in aid. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on pilgrims, ensuring that this fundamental pillar of Islam remains accessible to a broad segment of the population.

Beyond these financial measures, the meeting also evaluated the progress of major projects, particularly in the railway sector. The government appears keen on accelerating the development of transport infrastructure as part of an overarching strategy to boost the national economy and facilitate domestic travel.

The 2024-2025 agricultural plan was also central to the discussions. This strategic program aims to strengthen the country’s food self-sufficiency and improve the living conditions of farmers. Lastly, issues related to the daily concerns of citizens were examined, reflecting the government’s increased attention to the real needs of the population.

These decisions clearly demonstrate the Algerian authorities’ commitment to improving citizens’ quality of life and responding to growing expectations in essential sectors. The increase in tourism and religious allowances is part of a broader dynamic aimed at enhancing the purchasing power of Algerians and promoting a positive image of Algeria on the international stage.

In summary, this meeting illustrates a balanced government strategy that combines citizen support with investment in infrastructure and strategic sectors. The next steps in implementation will be critical to ensuring these announcements have a tangible impact on the daily lives of Algerians.
