Morocco has just entered into negotiations with the Israeli company Elbit Systems with a view to acquiring the Delilah cruise missile, a machine capable of hitting land and sea targets over 250 km away.
Morocco wants to acquire this Israeli missile, Delilah, to strengthen its air force which does not yet have a cruise missile. Negotiations are underway to conclude an agreement with the company Elbit Systems, the designer of this machine. But the approval of the Israeli security institutions is necessary to finalize this agreement, says Defensa, stressing that a lobby formed by Jews of Moroccan origin is trying to convince these Israeli institutions of Morocco’s good intentions.
Morocco wants to operate this Israeli missile primarily on its Air Force F-5 fighters, which it plans to upgrade by equipping them with AESA fire control radar, digital displays, an advanced datalink, advanced sensor and jamming systems, and a suite of modern air-to-ground and air-to-air weapons.
Delilah missiles have been developed for some years by Israel Military Industries (IMI, now part of Elbit Systems). They feature an advanced electro-optical (E/O) seeker for the day, night, and all-weather, and have the capability to hit land and sea targets over 250 km away and pre-assess damage of fight.
