Morocco, Spain, and Portugal Officially Host the 2030 World Cup

After a months-long process, the Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid for the 2030 World Cup was officially validated this Wednesday by FIFA during an extraordinary congress held via videoconference. This endorsement by the governing body of world football marks a historic moment for Moroccan, African, and Arab football. The official announcement of the 2030 World Cup award is also the realization of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s vision for sports in the Kingdom, particularly football.

In presenting the Moroccan-Iberian dossier, Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, assured that the 2030 World Cup would hold a special place in history. “It’s a historic and rare moment to see our three countries hosting the 2030 World Cup. The trust placed by FIFA members in the Kingdom’s capability to host an event of this magnitude is a recognition of Morocco’s development under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The tripartite organization of this event will undoubtedly occupy a privileged place in history and will serve as a lever for social, economic, and human development,” declared the FRMF president. In addition to the words of the national football leader, the heads of Spanish, Portuguese football, and from Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina have praised the merits of this bid, stating that it serves as a bridge between three continents.
