Morocco Sets Course for the Japanese Market at Tourism Expo Japan 2024

Tourism Expo Japan is one of the world’s largest tourism exhibitions, bringing together over 1,265 exhibitors from more than 80 countries, with an expected audience of over 150,000 visitors.

This year and for the first time, Morocco is participating in this event with a delegation led by ONMT. The Moroccan pavilion will cover 92 square meters and will allow the Kingdom โ€œto clarify its vision and promote the Morocco destination on the Japanese market.โ€

Japan represents a market with strong potential for Morocco, particularly in the context of growing demand for cultural and experiential travel, the press release underlines.

Indeed, Japanese tourists, known for their quest for authentic destinations rich in history, could be seduced by the Moroccan offer, which combines cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and renowned hospitality.

This participation is part of the ONMT strategy, implemented in 2014, aimed at diversifying the markets and sending tourists to Morocco. Meetings with the largest operators in the sector are planned throughout the event.

Among the targeted Japanese companies are HIS and JTB Corporation, travel giants that play a key role in organizing trips to Japan and abroad.

Morocco also plans to strengthen its collaborations with digital platforms specializing in travel such as Travel Konnect and Rakuten Travel, which have several million active users. These partnerships should improve Morocco’s visibility on the Japanese market and boost tourist flows between the two countries.

The Moroccan stand, designed to be both immersive and informative, will offer visitors โ€œ a complete vision of the tourist offer โ€ of the country. The ONMT also makes a point of promoting โ€œsustainability โ€ and โ€œ safety โ€, criteria that are increasingly essential for Japanese tourists.
