Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met Monday in New York with the Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay. The talks, which took place on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and this pan-Asian organization, as the Kingdom seeks to obtain observer state status within CICA.
CICA SG Sarybay praised Moroccoโs economic dynamics and its key role in Africa, stressing that cooperation with the Kingdom could open new opportunities to build strong bridges between Asia and Africa. The two sides also discussed concrete steps to intensify their bilateral partnership.
Sarybay also stressed the importance for CICA to expand its relations with Africa, capitalizing on the strategic role that Morocco plays in the development of the continent. He expressed his confidence in the Kingdom’s ability to contribute significantly to the evolution of CICA.
