Science subjects in Morocco will now be taught in English, the Ministry of Education has announced. This reform should enter into force within two years.
This decision is part of the gradual adoption of the English language in the teaching of scientific subjects at all levels of primary and secondary school instead of French. This process, contained in a seven-year plan, will be launched next year.
“The ministry estimates that the English language can become the first foreign language within two years”, announces one. Thus, Moroccan public schools will now have to teach the English language from the last year of college.
According to the ministry’s new plan, teachers of science subjects will have to undergo 6 to 8 hours of training each week.
