Morocco: Dozens of Lawyers Demand Better Working Conditions

They also claim to make their contribution to the reform of the law regulating the legal profession.

Dozens of Moroccan lawyers took part on Wednesday in protest rallies in several cities of the Kingdom to demand an improvement in their working conditions and their own contribution to the reform of the law regulating the legal profession.

This is what emerges from the photos and videos published by lawyers on social media, during protest rallies organized in the capital, Rabat and the cities of Tangier and Casablanca (north).

At these rallies organized by the Federation of Young Lawyers Associations (non-governmental), lawyers held up banners calling for the swift enactment of modern and advanced law for the legal profession and rejecting any law that does not involve them.

The lawyers also demanded to be included in the social protection system, such as health insurance.

According to the correspondent of the Anadolu Agency (AA), lawyers claim their participation in the reform of the law regulating their profession.

These gatherings come a few days after the declarations of the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, according to which he undertakes to bring changes and measures concerning the legal profession.

Wahbi, – a lawyer by profession -, is committed to promulgating texts against lawyers who violate the law and to reconsidering the law regulating the profession.
