Morocco and the Netherlands Continue Negotiations on a Draft Agreement on the Extradition of Criminals

Morocco and the Netherlands held, on Tuesday, February 7, and Wednesday, February 8 in Rabat, the first round of negotiations on the draft agreement on the extradition of criminals.

Morocco and the Netherlands held, on Tuesday, February 7, and Wednesday, February 8 in Rabat, the first round of negotiations on the draft agreement on the extradition of criminals.

This meeting was chaired on the Moroccan side by the Director of Criminal Affairs and Pardons, Hicham Mellati. At the same time, the Dutch delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Security, as well as officials and experts in international judicial cooperation, says a press release from the Ministry of Justice.

The negotiations took place “in a cordial atmosphere imbued with a high sense of professionalism”, underlines the same source, adding that the two parties have agreed on most of the provisions of the draft agreement.

Specific points are still the subject of consultations with the competent institutional structures of the two parties, with a view to deciding them during the next round, it is specified.

The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the various aspects of the close cooperation existing between the two countries, as well as the ongoing coordination to complete the negotiations on this draft agreement, with a view to its signing as a new milestone in the framework of bilateral judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
