The American Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) has just classified several African countries at level 3 of the Covid-19 risk. Unfortunately, Morocco is there.
The highly credible US federal agency for the protection of the health and safety of people in the United States and abroad has ranked Morocco high on its list of risk for the spread of the pandemic. Thus, the agency dissuades international travelers from traveling to Morocco and postponing any minor travel plans in the Kingdom, Challenge reports.
In addition, the American agency, founded in Atlanta, has indicated that the Moroccan health system is “limited”, exposing foreign visitors to high risks, in case of contamination with the coronavirus. This suggests that, even in the post-Covid period, the state of a country’s health system can become a condition of decision-making and arbitration among tourists for their travel choices.
An announcement that comes at the wrong time and undermines the hopes of Morocco, which plans to save its tourism at the end of the hallucinating year. However, Morocco is not the only one to see its hope of reviving its tourism fly away so quickly. Egypt, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Gabon, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal and others also share this fate.
Only the Republic of Mauritius is still classified as medium risk for tourists, with a word of caution.
