A new program piloted by the Agrotechnologies Association of Souss-Massa (AgroTech) will train and support actors involved in the collection and recycling of the agricultural plastic waste in Souss-Massa in Morocco.
In preparation for several more than a year, the agricultural plastic waste recovery program in the Souss-Mass has been launched on October 12, 2021. The training begins with the component “training and support for collectors and recyclers” in the region located in the north of Morocco. The training will be held at the Continuing Training Service Center of the OFPPT (Office for Vocational Training and Work Promotion) Taddart, in the city of Agadir.
Initially, the participants will be interviewed on the topic “Finance and financial management”. The program will have six other sessions for the technical, managerial, and fiscal efficiency of the collectors and recyclers of agricultural plastic waste of Souss-Massa, mainly the operators of the provinces of Chtouka Ait Baha, Taroudant, Inezgane-Aït Melloul, and Agadir Ida-OuTanane.
The Agrotechnologies Association of Souss-Massa (AgroTech) is piloting this program which should lead to the adoption of a circular economy practice for agricultural plastic waste in the Souss-Massa region. This implies the organization of the regional sector of sorting and recovery of agricultural plastic waste and the integration of informal units. The program also provides for the preparation of a study on possible scenarios for the establishment of a platform for the recovery of agricultural plastic waste, as well as the contribution to the rehabilitation of structured units with the acquisition of machinery and equipment. The success of this approach will at the same time reduce soil and water pollution in Souss-Massa. Between 2018 and 2019,
Agrotech is giving itself three years to complete its training program on the recovery of agricultural plastic waste in Souss-Massa. The association receives funding from the Moroccan Department of the Environment, the Souss-Massa Regional Council, and the Souss-Massa Regional Directorate of Agriculture.
