Moroccan national arrested in Limerick with terrorist’s ID

A MOROCCAN national hasย been arrested and detained after he was found in possession of identification papers linked to one of the London terror attackers.

Gardai from the National Immigration Bureau arrested the man at his Limerick home on Bank Holiday Monday night.

It is understood that they had been acting on information intelligence received from the UK authorities.

The man was arrested and detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Roxboro Road Garda Station as it was alleged he had false documents and identifications linking him to London terror attacker Rachid Redouane.

It is believed that officers from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) were acting on the suspicion that the man had acquired Redouaneโ€™sย identification details possibly through a PPS number that he was using.

The Moroccan national who was detained is understood to have been working in the catering industry in Limerick and previously in the South East.

After last Saturdayโ€™s terror attack in London, it emerged thatย Redouane had lived and worked in Dublin prior to him leaving for the UK.

It is now suspectedย that the Moroccan national arrested in Limerick last Monday, had acquired false documents afterย Redouane left the country.

The documents were recovered after the manโ€™s apartment was searched by GNIB officers.

The investigation is continuing.
