New tensions between Madrid and Rabat: Morocco is accused by Spain of having violated its maritime space by installing a fish farm on the Chafarinas Islands, a small archipelago under its sovereignty and located three kilometers off the Moroccan coast.
The Spanish navy has not ceased to alert “for months” against the installation by Morocco of a fish farm near the Chafarinas Islands. Navy sources said they had “for months” “evidence” of this Moroccan maneuver. They claim to have transmitted this information to the operations command which in turn transferred them to the Directorate General of Defense Policy, reports the Spanish newspaper Europa Press. The information comes in the midst of the crisis between Spain and Morocco, caused by the refusal of the government of Sanchez to recognize the sovereignty of Morocco in the Sahara.
