Medical tourism in Tunisia is experiencing significant growth, attracting more than five million visitors each year, according to statements by Mohamed Skhiri, director of investments at the National Office of Hydrotherapy and Hydrotherapy.
Reported by the media “Essabah”, these figures demonstrate an upward trend, with more than five hundred thousand foreign tourists having opted for Tunisia in 2017 and more than two million, also including North Africans who chose the Tunisian destination, particularly for thalassotherapy resorts.
Mohamed Skhiri stressed that the majority of these visitors come from Maghreb countries and Tunisia itself while noting the significant presence of European tourists.
The investment director highlighted the importance of medical tourism, calling it a “priority sector”. He also indicated that this sector benefits from numerous financial and tax incentives to encourage its development.
In terms of infrastructure, Tunisia currently has seven thermal spas offering mineral waters, 60 thalassotherapy centers, and more than 340 freshwater treatment centers, thus reinforcing its appeal as a destination of choice for medical care. and well-being.
