To develop the country’s maritime infrastructure and carry out scheduled projects, the Ministry of Public Works has created a Maritime Works Group “GTM”.
According to a press release from the ministry, the creation of this Group comes in the implementation of “the decisions of the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on July 15, concerning the creation of an Algerian company for major maritime works, and in the execution of the decisions of the State Participations Council (CPE), resulting from its 187th session held on August 5.”
On this occasion, the Minister of the sector Lakhdar Rakhroukh, highlighted, during the Constitutive General Assembly of the Maritime Works Group, the importance for Algeria to have a Group specialized in the construction of maritime installations, ensuring that the new Group, will strengthen the capacities of the national construction tool, and contribute to the development of competitive capacities in front of global groups, which will allow GTM to benefit from major structuring projects.
He also stressed the need to “strengthen cooperation between the various stakeholders of the Group, to promote its role, to contribute to the development of the country’s maritime infrastructures and the optimization of their performance.”
In its press release, the ministry indicated that the GTM “will constitute an effective tool for the realization of investments planned within the framework of the development of maritime infrastructures to accompany the dynamics experienced by the national economy, hence the need to mobilize all means and capacities to achieve several objectives, in particular the creation of jobs, but also to meet the needs of the national economy, and promote the services provided to align with international standards.
