A 75-year-old man who cut the throat 10 centimeters long of a gardener who worked in Villecresnes in Val-de-Marne, after uttering racist insults against him, was arrested and placed under judicial supervision on Monday November 20, according to the Créteil public prosecutor’s office. The septuagenarian will have to appear in court on May 16, 2024.
The offenses retained are “violence with use of a weapon” and “non-public insult due to origin, ethnicity, nation, race or religion”, specified the public prosecutor, confirming information from the site StreetPress information. “For my client, this is indeed an attempted homicide,” said Hosni Maati, the victim’s lawyer. “Within a few centimeters, he could have hit the jugular or the carotid artery. My client thought he was dying ,” insisted Hosni Maati. The 29-year-old father’s injury resulted in 15 days of total incapacity for work (ITT).
Armed with a cutter, he slit her throat
The facts date back to Friday November 17 around 2 p.m. Mourad, a 29-year-old gardener, is working for a client when a 75-year-old man comes to attack, indicates Mediapart. The latter complain: he believes that the gardening company’s van is blocking his way out of a dead end, he loses his temper and insults him: ” Oh, the bouricots are at my house”, “the bougnouls are at my place”. me” or “go back home”. Shocked, the gardener decides to take out his phone to film the scene.
On a surveillance camera video published by Mediapart (below), we can hear the attacker shouting these racist insults several times. We also see him return with a box cutter, threatening the gardener.
“You will say goodbye to our son”
Questioned by BFMTV, the victim explains that the 75-year-old man then asked her to bend down to show him something and that he slit her throat 15 cm. “It happened very quickly,” he explains on the news channel. Mourad decides to go to the owner of the house who hired him so that she can call the emergency services. “I told him you will say goodbye to our son, because I saw myself leaving, I thought I was leaving”, very moved, the gardener called his wife to say goodbye.
Help arrives and takes care of Mourad. The police analyze the video filmed by Mourad and manage to identify the suspect using his license plate. Before investigators, he admitted to having had an altercation over a parking space, before being arrested at his home.
