Karim Tabbou Case – The Judge Pronounces the Termination of the Public Action

The verdict fell in the appeal trial of Karim Tabbou. The judge pronounced the extinction of the public action. 

The judge at the Tipaza court found that the defendant is being prosecuted for facts that have already been the subject of a trial, which led to the termination of the public action, said the national committee for the release of detainees (CNLD).

During the hearing of October 11, the prosecution requested three years in prison against the politician Karim Tabbou, prosecuted for “undermining the security of the State”.

Recall that at the end of his first trial which took place on December 7, 2020, Karim Tabbou was sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, accompanied by a fine of 100,000 DA. He was being prosecuted for “endangering national security”.

The judge had pronounced an acquittal concerning the proceedings instituted within the framework of article 74 of the code of penal procedure. The politician was accused of “undermining the morale of the army” under the provisions of this article.
