With an IPv6 adoption rate reaching 17%, Tunisia is at the forefront of digital transition in North Africa, according to data from stats.labs.apnic.net. This progress places Tunisia well ahead of its neighbors, Morocco (3.2%) and Algeria (0.8%), marking a significant step in modernizing its digital infrastructure.
Ooredoo Tunisia stands out with 38% of its traffic on IPv6, followed by Tunisie Telecom with 35%. The other operators, Topnet and Orange Tunisia, show 8% and 6% IPv6 traffic respectively. This increasing adoption of IPv6 offers numerous benefits, including better network performance, addressing the IP address shortage, and enhanced security through the native integration of the IPsec protocol.
IPv6 also forms the necessary foundation for the development of future technologies such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing. These advancements position Tunisia as a pioneer in North Africa in the digital era.
